A Recessed Pool Cleaning System

Posted on: 6 January 2023

A recessed pool cleaning system utilizes pressure and water to loosen dirt and grime and push this waste, plus leaves, toward the drain system that comprises a pool. Your pool contractor can install this type of cleaning system when you have a new in-ground pool constructed.

A Better Cleaning System

Skimmers are used to remove surface contaminants from a pool, but are not useful in cleaning the walls or the bottom of a pool. In recent years, robotic cleaners have been used to clean the inside of a pool. These cleaners work similarly to floor robotic cleaners that are used in households. Although a robotic system is effective, using one can be time-consuming. A recessed cleaning system utilizes jets that are designed to be recessed in the walls or the floor of a pool.

These types of jets are commonly referred to as pop-ups. When a recessed cleaning system is activated, the jets will lift from the floor or the walls that they were originally laying flush with. The pop-ups are typically arranged in groups and will each be responsible for spraying pressurized water in a distinct direction. The use of a recessed pool cleaning system can drastically cut down the amount of time that it takes to remove dirty contaminants from a pool.

A Contractor's Duties

A pool contractor will typically oversee the excavation and construction of an in-ground pool. Electrical and plumbing components that are going to be added to a pool will usually also be handled by a contractor. A recessed pool cleaning system requires the use of electrical and plumbing materials. A contractor will use the size and layout of a pool to determine how many recessed jets will need to be added to a pool cleaning system.

Jets will be placed strategically, in relation to where the drain system is located. Jets are often activated at varying intervals. Staggering the operation of the jets will aid with effectively moving debris toward the drain. Once a cleaning system has been installed, you will be able to control how often it is turned on. Your pool contractor may advise you on different elements that may require that you clean your pool more often than under different circumstances.

Some recessed systems contain a keypad that will aid with setting up a cleaning system or adjusting the functions that one is equipped with. Your system may allow you to change the direction of the water flow that is emitted from each jet or to change the water pressure.
